Crazy Cake

Crazy Cake

2 cups Sugar
2 cups flour
2 sticks butter or margarine
¼ cup cocoa, scant
1 cup water
½ cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp vanilla
½ cup chopped nuts, if desired

Mix sugar and flour in a bowl.  Combine butter, cocoa, and water in a small pan.  Bring to a boil and pour over the flour and sugar mixture.  Mix well.  Add buttermilk, eggs, soda, vanilla.  Beat two minutes.  Add nuts.  Pour into a greased and floured shallow pan about the size of a jelly roll pan.  Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 400 degrees.
