Caramel Frosting

Caramel Frosting (burnt sugar) Grandma Turner

2 cups sugar
1 cup cream

Brown ¼ cup sugar.  It will get quite dark and melt.  When melted, add 1 cup cream and dissolve slowly.  Add 1 ¾ cup sugar.  Cook to firm ball, but don’t overcook (add powdered sugar if it won’t set up).  Beat with mixer until proper consistency to spread.
